Description

A pleasant hike of just under 8 km and 300 m of elevation gain that allows you to savor the Lukmanier region in all its simplicity while discovering the Brenno river and its meanders, which, with their particularly winding shapes, are a result of the freedom that the Brenno can still take here.

Indeed, it is the waters and deposits of the river that shape the delicate forms of the riverbed, which here create an exemplary alpine river landscape that regenerates a rich and unique ecosystem after each flood.

The route starts from the Pro Natura Lukmanier Center in Acquacalda and crosses the road ascending towards the old Alpe Pozzetta, then descending to Samprou and via a dirt road to Casaccia. Here we find the InfoPoint (open during the summer period) where you can gather more information about the region.

You cross the pass road again and from here continue first along the trail and then a flat dirt road to the Brenno Spring.

Here the water springs from a large rock, revealing the sunlight. It can be touched; it is clear and pure.

Crossing the small bridge is the Alpe del Pertusio, the circuit's farthest point, where fresh milk, cheeses, small cheeses, ricotta, and butter are produced and sold.

You return to Acquacalda following the right bank of the Brenno river, passing by Alpe Gana and Ai Pini.
