Description
From Grindelwald Village the route leads to the marble quarry. Located above the famous glacier gorge, it offers a great view of the fascinating glacier world. The gorge was once covered by ice, but today it is walkable through tunnels and rock galleries. With walls up to 300 meters high, impressive rock formations, and the roaring Lütschine deep below, it is a true spectacle of nature. After an ascent, you reach the east side of the Eiger. With a great view of the opposite Faulhorn and Schwarzhorn, the path leads to Alpiglen. You can either take the train here or continue walking to Brandegg, where the best "Öpfelchüechli" (apple pies) in the world are served. Then the route leads back to Grindelwald.
