Description
This is a historically secondary route, mainly traveled by herdsmen and hunters, later joined by the "spalloni", the smugglers who used it intensively for their cross-border trafficking from Gravedona and Dongo to Roveredo.
The route starts in the San Fedele area, famous for the many grottos where you can taste the local products of the territory. The trail then continues passing beside the church of Madonna del Ponte or Sant'Anna which stands at the entrance of the Traversagna valley and is preceded by two stone arch bridges crossing the homonymous river. The trail then continues to climb up the mountain, until reaching the border with Italy.
During the route it is possible to make a detour to see the Boggiano tower, dating back to 1406, which stands on a rocky spur at the entrance of the Val Traversagna.
