Big Pintenfritz (No. 50)

The starting point on First can be reached by cable car from Grindelwald in 25 minutes. From there, a marked winter hiking trail leads past the Bachalpsee lake to the Faulhorn - the highest point of this tour - in just over 2.5 hours. As well as the opportunity to take a breather, you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of many parts of Switzerland from up here. The highlight follows at the end, the descent towards Bussalp and, in good conditions, to Lochsteinen, where a total of 1000 meters in altitude are covered.

Incidentally, the special name "Big Pintenfritz" is due to the legendary landlord Fritz Bohren, who ran the "Pinte" (Hotel Bellevue) and the Faulhorn mountain hotel in Grindelwald.

Recommendation: In the morning, the toboggan runs from the Bussalp are very good. From midday, depending on the temperature, very spring-like, soft pistes. We therefore recommend starting early in the morning on the First for the Big Pintenfritz.
