Description
The ridge hike on the way to the small town of Froburg, Waldenburg, with its castle ruins is demanding but rewarding with many views from cliffs. At the top of Belchenflue there is a wonderful viewpoint at 1098.8 meters above sea level with panoramic views and information boards, which attracts many hikers and walkers from the surrounding area. A wonderful hiking area extends between Eptingen, Waldenburg and Langenbruck: Romantic paths over rocky ridges invite you to ascend to Belchenflue at 1098.8 m with a unique panoramic view. The viewpoint is located at the highest point of the Swiss Belchen on the border between Basel-Landschaft and Solothurn and is best reached on foot. On clear days a beautiful panorama of the Black Forest, the Vosges and the Alps is visible. You can even see Mont Blanc! From Chilchzimmersattel and from Challhöchi Belchenflue is easy to reach. The last section up to the rocky summit is steep but secured with railings.
Note: The section of trail between Lauchfluh - Gerstelfluh and Waldenburg castle ruins is classified as a mountain trail. There are exposed sections and especially in wet weather the path must be approached with caution. Good hiking shoes and trekking poles are recommended.
