Barrier-free tour: Liestal - Bad Bubendorf

This round trip connects the capital of the canton Liestal with another historic location in the history of the Basel-Landschaft canton: Bad Bubendorf. The route is mostly gently ascending; in the opposite direction it is easier.

The starting point is the landmark of Liestal, the Törli. The start is flat and barrier-free accessible from the station. A walk through Liestal is worthwhile: A view through the Törli into Rathausstrasse is particularly worth seeing.

From the Törli the path first leads steeply up to the "castle". Those who prefer it more comfortably can use the short transfer with bus 72 from the Törli stop to Liestal, Burg. Once at the top, the path initially runs through a residential area and then out into the plain behind Liestal.

Along the edge of the forest, the path is sometimes shared with cyclists. Soon follows the descent to the Frenke – short but steep. Then well-maintained marl and asphalt sections alternate. Slightly ascending, the path meanders along the Frenke, ideal for enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings. A narrow passage about 90 cm wide offers two escape options for crossing. Alternating marl and asphalt surfaces make progress easy.

Shortly before Bubendorf, a final climb leads up to the main road and to the end point of the hike. The restaurant Bad Bubendorf is worth a well-deserved break. 

For the return to Liestal, there are several options: The Waldenburgerbahn or the bus both stop at the endpoint and are barrier-free or usable with assistance. Those who still feel like moving can take the return path the same way – the descent is easier.

Another option is to choose the last third of the hike Station Lampenberg - Liestal, through Bubendorf and along the fields, somewhat further west.
