Description
The route starts in idyllic Vulpera, the cradle of spa tourism in the Lower Engadin. Following mountain bike route 440, after about 150 m on the road towards Tarasp, turn left onto the country lane and follow it via Tarasp/Lai Nair. At the transmitter, go straight past and at the next junction with a bench turn right. After a hairpin bend you reach the impressive plateau, which invites you to take a break. The lake itself also invites you to cool off. The forest road towards Avrona leads past the parking lot of the picturesque mountain lake Lai Nair. A detour is worth it: quiet and – as the name says – almost black, it lies on a raised bog above Tarasp. The forest road then goes down to Avrona to the mountain school, where the path dips into the forest. This last stretch down to Vulpera again demands full concentration and biking skills. The wide single trail is repeatedly littered with larger stones and crossed by roots.
