Description
This hike is located in the municipality of Diemtigen, the fifth largest municipality by area in the canton of Bern, covering 130 km2. In 1986, the Swiss Heritage Society awarded Diemtigen the Henri-Louis-Wakker Prize in recognition of the protection and care of the landscape, local scenes, and building fabric. In 2011, the Diemtigtal was awarded the label Regional Nature Park. In winter, skiers flock to the Wiriehore, while in summer the hiking trails are more tranquil and peaceful. At the mountain station of the Nüegg chairlift, the route Underi Heitere, Wirie, Wiriehore is chosen. Down on a hard surface, the lowest point of the hike is reached at Underi Heitere. The route then ascends along a forest road, across alpine pastures and through woods past the Bodeflue towards Alp Wirie. Here you orient yourself by the signpost to Abendmatte. Passing the turnoff to the Wiriehore, the hike leads to the saddle Pt. 2031. From here, the descent continues via Gurbs and Mettenberg to Abendmatte. Along the slope without major elevation changes over Tubelfärrich, through alpine pastures, down past the mountain restaurant Schwarzenberg, the circle of the circular hike closes again at Nüegg.
