Description
The circular route starts at the monastery square and passes by the vineyards and apple trees heading upstream to the Rheinau power plant. On the following ascent to the swimming pool, it is worth looking back at the impressive St. Maria monastery island on which the monastery is situated. Past the Celtic fortification and the two bunker buildings, the path leads to the other side of the peninsula and continues through the village to the old customs house and bridge. On the way, a short detour to the mountain church of St. Nikolaus, which stands above the monastery church on the vineyard hill, is recommended. On the way back to the monastery square, the circular route passes farmland and a fire pit with a bathing place, offering a wonderful view of the pointed church of St. Magdalena and the monastery church.
