Description
Two lonely settlements lie abandoned in the “Schachen.” But we are already approaching another highlight. Whether in summer or winter; the Fischbach Moos (Mösli), a kettle hole, enchants us. Wonderful in the sun, eerie in the fog, romantic under the full moon at night, it lies in a hollow before us. Peat was mined here until after World War II. The pond is a paradise for birds, amphibians, and frogs, but above all for those seeking relaxation. In the summer, people barbecue and swim here until late at night. In the past, the Mösli was often frozen for months during winter. Ice hockey games of the EHC Fi-Gö also took place here.
Our further hike leads us down to the Reuss. Until the beginning of the 19th century, the Reuss coming from Bremgarten made a loop here. During a major correction at the time, the river was straightened in this area, but the old course was not filled in. Thus, a dead arm was formed – the dead Reuss, which is still filled with water. A nature reserve of national importance!
The favorite place for children, boat riders, swimmers, and canoeists is the sandbank. It is not uncommon to find beautiful sandcastles here. From here, it takes 20 minutes to get back to our starting point, the church.
