Description

The small moraine lake, formed in the last ice age, is a gem in the border area of the cantons of Solothurn and Bern. Together with the three giant erratic boulders at the nearby Steinhof, it is considered a remnant of the Rhone Glacier, which covered the entire Swiss Plateau up to the area around Wangen an der Aare. Walkers can circle the lake on the designated wood chip path. The path partly leads through the forest and along the shore. Along the way, there are repeated opportunities to step out over piers onto the lake. Beautiful alternating moods of light and shadow as well as wonderful water reflections with color changes give the lake a very special atmosphere.

Most of Burgäschisee is under nature protection. Information boards provide the relevant behavioral rules.
