Description

Along narrow paths and grass or forest trails, you hike a piece of geology, craftsmanship, construction, and social history on the Krauchthal sandstone trail. In four disused quarries, topics related to sandstone are conveyed in text and images (tools, extraction, geology, transport, processing, and more). This building material was already used in the early Middle Ages. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, several quarries were closed because other building materials displaced sandstone. In addition, beautiful views and nature offer opportunities to linger. The hiking route is marked as a theme trail (brown).
