Anneli Route

“Anneli” from the Töss Valley is, after Johanna Spyri's “Heidi,” probably the best-known girl in Swiss youth literature. The author Olga Meyer (1889–1972) describes the childhood of her mother Anneli Lüssi against the backdrop of early industrialization in the Töss Valley. Anneli Lüssi grows up with her seven siblings in the mid-19th century in Turbenthal. The father's painting workshop barely supports the family. The sudden death of the father forces his children to work in the nearby spinning factory in Hutzikon, which today belongs to the municipality of Turbenthal.
