Description
The "Alpine round flight" starts in the heart of the Grimsel world, at the historic Alpine hotel Grimsel Hospice. With the Sidelhornbahn, you glide over Lake Grimsel towards the Grimsel Pass. Both the Sidelhornbahn and Oberaarbahn are self-driving railways: here the user becomes the driver themselves. Arriving at the mountain station, the real start is: the path leads 300 meters uphill to Husenegg, where the hike continues on a beautiful granite path. Time and again, breathtaking views open up of the surrounding mountain and granite landscape and, of course, the largest lake in the Grimsel area, Lake Grimsel. The hike continues past Triebteseewli and via Bäregg down to the cozy mountain lodge Oberaar. The restaurant and mountain lodge Oberaar offers, besides regional and authentic cuisine, a wonderful view of the waters of the Oberaarsee and the ice of the Oberaargletscher. After a refreshment on the sun terrace, you take the way downhill (approx. 45 meters altitude) to the Oberaarbahn. The 25-minute gondola ride is a real adventure: almost horizontal it goes in a "low flight" to the intermediate station Kessiturm and finally down to the historic Alpine hotel Grimsel Hospice, with an extraordinary view of the Lauteraar and the Finnsteraarhorn. Such a beautiful and eventful hiking day is best rounded off with a glass of wine at the Grimsel Hospice. www.grimselwelt.ch
