Altnau Apple Route

Slightly elevated and located directly on Lake Constance, Altnau has more apple trees than inhabitants – and a magnificent view of the lake. The Apple Route shows how important fruit growing has been for the culture of the village for generations. Newly designed info boards with apple variety quizzes, jokes, and questions convey interesting facts about the apple growing area and the red-cheeked fruit. The three apple mascots Fredi, Lisi, and Emma address children at eye level on the signs and present fun interactive offers.

The excursion through the apple village can conveniently start at the train station; the route is also suitable for a bike ride. Benches and picnic places offer opportunities to take a break. A special place to breathe deeply is the Altnau jetty, which extends 270 meters further into Lake Constance than any other. In the Altnau farm shops, village shops, and local gastronomy, it's all about apples; nowhere in Thurgau do the apple fritters taste better than here.
