Description

The hike is located on both Bernese and Solothurn territory. At the starting point of the hike at the Lohn-Lüterkofen train station, observe the signpost indication for Lüterkofen. Soon you will reach the charming Biberebach. In Lüterkofen, follow the signpost direction to Küttigkofen. After a short ascent along the edge of the forest, it goes over a rise, then down to Küttigkofen. Here, the next intermediate destination is marked on the signpost: Kräiligen, which can be reached across fields and through a forest. After crossing the Bern – Solothurn railway line via an overpass, you arrive in the village of Kräiligen. Well-known personalities from Kräiligen include the late Ernst "Aschi" Leuenberger, Solothurn National Councilor, National Council President and Council of States member, as well as Florian Ast, a musician in the Bernese German dialect rock style. Continue to the Emme and along the right-hand dam and later a canal, the Emme bridge at Gerlafingen is reached. Now cross the Emme and climb briefly and steeply through the forest to Altisberg. Here lies the Zwingherrenhubel, the remains of an earth castle from the 12th century. Further finds prove that humans settled on Altisberg as early as the Neolithic. Continue straight on forest paths above the Emme, then towards the Lohn-Lüterkofen station. After leaving the forest at Rötelihus, turn left, where the hike continues on roads across the plain back to the Lohn-Lüterkofen station, the destination of the hike.
