Description
Leaving the town, the ascent heads towards Kaubad. The hike passes through a beautiful forest area, past the Eischen campsite and over several pastures. Further uphill leads to the Alp Wasserschaffen. Here the scenery changes: where previously the gentle rolling landscape was admired, the viewpoint now dominates the ridge with views to the south towards the rocks of the Alpstein. With this impressive backdrop, the hike continues to the Scheidegg guesthouse, which welcomes visitors for a rest after just over two and a half hours.
Refreshed, the last 300 vertical meters to the Kronberg are tackled. After another hour, the highest point of the hike at 1662 meters is reached. The Kronberg ridge runs parallel to the Alpstein – with correspondingly fantastic views. In the end, the descent through the Bruggerwald to the Chammhalden hut awaits, and then further over the large Schwägalp to the stage destination at the cable car valley station.
