Description

The Alpenrose trail leads from the First mountain station via the Faulhorn trail to the much-visited Bachalpsee. Photography enthusiasts will find great landscape subjects here. In the foreground lies the Bachalpsee, in the background the majestic Bernese Alps covered with eternal ice rise up. A small path leads between the two Bachalpsee lakes and shortly afterwards branches off to the south. It leads through a moorland with many different wet locations and mosses, through which the Mühlebach winds. Along the entire route blooms the diverse flora, such as gentians, anemones, purple gentians, sulfur anemones, primroses, etc.

From Alp Bachläger to the Waldspitz mountain restaurant, you encounter a sea of alpine roses whose red contrasts with the green meadows in the valley and the white glaciers in the background. A stop at the Waldspitz mountain restaurant, with its excellent view, is highly recommended. The mountain backdrop of the opposite peaks is breathtaking. Anyone who lingers too long on the wonderful terrace can then take the bus from Waldspitz back to Grindelwald.

The descent to the middle station Bort leads over a somewhat steeper and slippery mountain path after rainfall. In the upper part, you pass through old, gnarly mountain forest interspersed with wonderful blueberry and alpine rose fields. In the lower part, you encounter varied flower meadows and then reach the waterfalls of the Mühlebach. Shortly after, the gondola station Bort is reached. Those who wish may rent a trottibike at the cable car and return to Grindelwald with it.
