Description
The start is in Trubschachen. The destination: Schangnau. In between are lush meadows and challenging climbs. One thing first: the route is possible and worthwhile in both directions. We started in Trubschachen. From Trubschachen station, we first hike towards Rämsigummen. Shortly after the station, you can turn left or right. Both paths lead to Vorder Rämsigummen and are equally demanding. The paths are not very demanding and well signposted. They lead over wide meadows and varied forest trails. Along the way, we pass dozens of Emmental farms. There, cows and cats gladly await us, and we can gladly take a short break to admire the animals. Hikers discover the first crocuses in spring on the meadow towards Rämsigummen. As soon as the snow melts, the first crocuses stretch their heads towards the sun. Normally this is around mid-April. However, this depends on the weather and snow conditions. Not only the crocuses are admirable at Rämsigummen, but also the panorama is worth seeing. On a clear day, the Schratteflue and the Bernese Alps can be seen.
From Rämsigummen, we continue hiking towards Pfyffer and later to Wachthubel, which at 1,414 meters above sea level is the highest point of the hike. Several cozy benches invite you to linger at Wachthubel. A summit rest here offers a particularly impressive panorama of the Bernese Alps. From Wachthubel, we descend towards Schangnau. From there, you take a bus to Escholzmatt and then a train to Trubschachen. If you have not yet been to the Kambly factory shop at the beginning of the hike, you can catch up now. The sweet temptations and crunchy cookies certainly still have room in the backpack – or in your stomach.
