Description

Hiking deliberately along the Aare is also worth it. A particularly beautiful and family-friendly section is located between Kiesen and Belp. The hiking trail is very well maintained and leads through beautiful forests and the Aare renaturation area. Moreover, this hike can be easily done with public transport and also with small children. It starts at Kiesen train station. Right at the station is already the first signpost that reliably leads hikers to the Aare riverside trail. The hike continues always alongside the river on a leisurely forest path. Again and again, trails lead to the bank – so a small swim is possible in between. For refreshments, either take a detour to a restaurant in one of the nearby villages – or visit one of the many barbecue spots. With a view of the Aare, the grilled food tastes even better. The floodplain landscapes along the Aare are particularly sensitive ecosystems, which is why almost the entire river landscape between Thun and Bern is under nature protection. So if you want, use one of the official barbecue spots. How far you hike along the Aare can be decided very flexibly and spontaneously here. Since train stations can always be found near the bank, the hike can be ended depending on your mood and desire. In this hiking suggestion, we hiked to Belp to the Jägerheim restaurant. Those who want to shorten the hike can, for example, already start the way home in Münsingen. More ambitious hikers walk further towards Bern.
