Description

The route initially leads on the mountain hiking trail through the Niederseewald. Afterwards, you cross the "Lochbergstrasse" and a spruce forest before ascending on a gravel road to the Lochberg. The slightly ascending path passes the year-round inhabited mountain farms on the Näfelserberg. Now the road leads without a trail for about 150 meters through the meadow to the edge of the forest. From there, a trail leads through the forest to Alp Enziunen – the last alpine pasture where alpine cheese is still produced. After the alpine pasture, you ascend to Sööli Stäfeli. The ascent is rewarded on the Stäfeli partly by beautiful dry meadows with a high diversity of plant species. On the other hand, a fantastic panorama offers a view of the Rauti Troos wildlife sanctuary, which covers ten square kilometers and has existed since 1912, as well as the highest peak of Näfels, the Rautispitz. The path then continues relatively evenly through dry meadows to the hay huts in Gehren. Then you pass on a slightly descending path to the holiday home settlement "Vorder Ahornen." During the descent, there is a beautiful view of the Bockmattli, the Plattenberg, the Schyberg, and the distinctive Brünnelistock. The further descent takes place on the alpine road via Alp Brunnmettlen. The last stretch before Alp Oberseestafel is covered on the asphalt road. Alpine cheese is produced at Oberseestafel, which can also be obtained directly from the alpine pasture (except from July to mid-August, when the herders are in the upper Alpstafel on Rauti). Numerous information boards and a playground with barbecue facilities are found along the way. After about three hours of pure hiking time, the destination, the terrace of the mountain restaurant "Obersee," is reached, where you can enjoy a refreshment with a beautiful view of the lake.
