Description

The Sportbahnen Elm comfortably take us to the starting point of the hike at Ämpächli. From there we hike up over the Oberämpächli alp to the Wildmadfurggeli at 2,230 m above sea level. The ascent is quite steep. Shortly before the Wildmadfurggeli, the Wildmadseeli invite you for a refreshing swim. From the mountain pass, you enjoy a magnificent view of the UNESCO World Heritage Tektonikarena Sardona, the Tschinglen peaks, and the Sardona chain, and on the other side, the Glärnisch chain. There you also find sculptures by the Glarus sculptor Tina Hauser. They recall the old custom of wedding chamois. Those who married between Jakobi and Martini had the right to two chamois from the Freiberg Kärpf for the wedding feast.

Along the slope, we hike over the Hinter Matt to the Hübschböden and soon reach our goal, the Leglerhütte. We either decide to stay overnight in the Leglerhütte or descend to Mettmen and take the train back to Kies and the bus to Schwanden.
