Description
By bike and ferry through two countries: This route to Switzerland is ideal as a day route. The section of the Lake Constance Circular Route is very varied, even for families. Along the shore of Lake Constance, the route invites you to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the lake.
Starting in Hagnau or Immenstaad, the route follows the Lake Constance Cycle Path towards Friedrichshafen. Enjoy views of the vineyards and orchards. Especially in spring during blossom and autumn during harvest time, the natural landscape changes into breathtaking colors. From Hagnau to Friedrichshafen, the cycle path runs on asphalted paths, partly parallel to the federal road. In Friedrichshafen, a visit to the Zeppelin Museum directly at the harbor is worthwhile. From Friedrichshafen, you take the car ferry to Romanshorn in Switzerland. The ferry operates year-round hourly – please check the timetable and bring your identity card. From Romanshorn, you continue on flat, well-marked cycle paths through the Swiss towns of Uttwil, Kesswil, Güttingen, Altnau, Münsterlingen, and Kreuzlingen towards Konstanz. Once back in Germany, it is worth lingering in the picturesque old town of Konstanz. Away from the main roads, the route continues past the Konstanz Funnel, the outflow of the Upper Lake into the Seerhein, and the Hörnli beach, to Konstanz-Staad. From there, the car ferry runs every fifteen minutes back to the other shore, to Meersburg. Small idyllic alleys, magnificent castle complexes, and Meersburg Castle invite you to stroll and enjoy. From there, the route continues along the Lake Constance Cycle Path back to the starting point.
