Description

From Reuchenette-Péry station, head southeast to the bridge over the Le Terbez stream. On the sunny side lies the stately village of Péry, first documented in the year 884 as a donation to the Moutier-Grandval Abbey. The 2 km long and equally wide rocky basin of the Klus of Rondchâtel is considered a particularly beautiful example of a transverse breakthrough through a Jura fold. Beyond the stream, a consistently but steeply rising forest path leads through the Le Bambois forest to the pastures of Les Oeuches (point 918) and gently downward to the village of Plagne, which is located at an elevated position on the sunny slope. After ascending over pastures and through a strip of forest, a magnificent high-altitude hike through a park-like landscape with scattered holiday homes awaits. The view over the Aare valley towards Bucheggberg, the hills of the Emmental, and the Alps becomes more comprehensive with every step. Shortly after the mountain inn on the Montagne de Romont, you reach the highest point of the hike at the Bern/Solothurn canton border. The border stones are worth noting. The language border has already been indicated by German place names. On a shady forest path, you descend along the ridge to the Wäsmeli parking lot. Within minutes, you reach the Stierenberg mountain inn on the Grenchen–Grenchenberg road.
