Description
On this pleasant bike ride, the rural and peaceful Central Plateau is always close and nature is not far away. The starting point is the baroque town of Solothurn, which impresses with its picturesque alleys and a "savoir vivre". Therefore, it is definitely worth taking a stroll through the old town alleys before starting the ride. The landmark of Solothurn is the St. Ursus Cathedral. 249 steps lead up to the tower and the great panoramic view. At 66 meters high, the view is magnificent; the dizzying look down to the old town where many discoveries await, e.g. the Old Arsenal with its knight's armors or the Natural History Museum.
The cycle path mostly follows the course of the Aare. The route runs past castles, through light deciduous forests, and along idyllic Aare beaches. Olten with its historic wooden bridge and the charming old town also invites you to stop. The destination of this leisurely ride is then Aarau – the small town that owes its name to the Aare river. It offers a mix of tradition and modernity.
