Description
The perfect family outing between idyllic villages and plenty of nature Benny and Evelyne with their three children Aline, Svenja, and Thea from Lungern put this to the test for you – and will tell you whether this excursion turns into an experience for the whole family:
Starting with bicycles in Kaiserstuhl, the journey follows the eastern lakeshore aiming for a short break in Lungern to visit the church. The neo-Gothic style church from 1893 towers over the quaint village and is truly worth visiting – also for the wonderful view. The route then leads the cycling family towards Obsee to the valley station of the Lungern-Turren-Bahn cable car. Unfortunately, there is no time today for a ride with the cable car. Instead, there is a small detour to the two-tiered Dundelbach waterfall. The water plunges impressively into the depths, and the spray is a welcome refreshment on this warm summer day.
On the western shore of Lungerersee, the path continues on a narrow road past farmhouses, fields, rock faces, and a shady forest. About halfway, it’s time to stop at one of the seven fire pits inviting you to barbecue. Benny searches for wood with Aline and Svenja while Evelyne and Thea prepare the food. It takes a little patience until everyone enjoys a nice ember. The grilled vegetables and cervelats (Swiss national sausages) revive the spirits of the children tired from the bike adventure. Refreshed and energized, they pedal the next part of the lake circuit. One last stop is made shortly before the destination – the refreshment at the Seebad Bürglen is a true pleasure after this summery bike route. Worth repeating!
