Description
The starting point is the fashionable village of Gstaad with its distinctive chalet style and lush green alpine meadows. At the end of the gently rising valley to the south lies the idyllic mountain village of Lauenen, where local culture, old traditions, and gentle tourism harmoniously complement each other. To the south, the mighty three-thousanders Wildhorn and Oldenhorn mark the border to the cantons of Vaud and Valais. Colorful dry meadows line the roadside above the «Sunnigi Louwene». Significantly more barren vegetation characterizes the Turbach Valley beyond the Trütlisberg Pass. The further you follow the Turbach stream down the valley, the greener the meadows become. Steep slopes on the left and right surround the secluded valley, which is only inhabited year-round in the lower part and is known for its over 75-year-old livestock cooperative.
