Description
In Schönried (1,230 m above sea level), the sunny terrace of the Gstaad region, the winter hike towards Gstaad starts. The village is nestled between the local mountain Horneggli and the Rellerli.
The easy winter hiking trail runs along the foot of the Hornberg, always gently downhill to Gstaad. The hike over meadows and paths offers beautiful views of Saanen, which is considered the historic heart of the Saanenland. The village with its cozy chalets from the 15th to 18th centuries is part of the inventory of Switzerland's protected local heritage sites. Not to be missed: the imposing Le Rubli soaring into the sky, or as the Saanen people say: the Rübli(horn).
In the second part of the hike, you are close to the railway tracks. With a bit of luck during the hike, the GoldenPass Panoramic train with its well-known panoramic carriages glides through the idyllic snowy landscape. Shortly afterwards, the destination comes into view: the chalet village of Gstaad and its landmark, the Gstaad Palace with its four distinctive towers. Once again, the hiking trail leads above Gstaad across the railway line. Then you soon reach the village, where the charming promenade invites you to stroll and linger.
