Description
The tour starts at the car park of the camping site at the end of the airfield and leads up into the Val Champagna on the right at Gravatscha lake. The Val Champagna is probably one of the least frequented valleys in the Upper Engadin. Along the Ova da Val Champagna, the trail begins with a steep ascent. Over a distance of 5.6 km, you have to climb 1100 metres in one stretch to the highest point. Passing the water intake of the Val Champagna small power station, you slowly leave the forest and soon reach the Chamanna Val Champagna, where the gradient decreases somewhat for a short time. The trail first leads through a somewhat marshy area, only to become steeper and more demanding again towards the top. The last ramp before you reach the Fuorcla then becomes stony and demands what seem to be the last reserves. As soon as you reach the Fuorcla, you can see Lej Muragl on the other side, a beautiful mountain lake that lies slightly below the route. On the high trail, where in winter the popular Philosophers' Path is laid out, the route descends gently to Muottas Muragl with a fantastic view. Past the Muottas Muragl mountain hotel, the steep descent begins, back to the camping site.
