53 Bernina Tour Switzerland: Stage 1 Poschiavo-Bernina Pass
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
The multi-day hike starts in the lovely Val Poschiavo. Take a deep breath again, because the Bernina route starts with an ascent of over 1200 meters. But don't worry, the constantly changing views and landscapes make the steepness less noticeable over time. And there are plenty of worthwhile "rest stops" for a break.
Starting from the village, the ascent begins and the path winds up past alpine pastures and through deciduous and coniferous forests to Cavaglia, always following the Cavaglia signpost. If there is enough time, it is worth visiting the Glacier Garden in Cavaglia. Not only are the beautifully cleaned glacial mills impressive, but the view of Val Poschiavo is spectacular. Past Cavaglia station, the Bernina route leads through the gorge and past Lagh da Palü up to the famous Alp Grüm curve of the Rhaetian Railway. A stop at Alp Grüm should definitely be planned with a refreshment in one of the two beautiful panoramic restaurants (Alp Grüm station buffet or Restaurant Belvedere).
Once Lago Bianco is reached, it is not far to the stage end point at Ospizio Bernina station.
