Description

The first part of the route follows the original road of the Bernina Pass. Unlike the current road, the old path meandered on the valley floor, close to the riverbed.

After some hairpin bends in the forest above Sfazù, the biker is greeted with the landscape and natural spectacle of Val di Campo. Due to its extensive larch and Swiss stone pine forest and its landslide moraine lakes “Lagh da Saoseo” and “Lagh da Val Viola”, it was included in 1977 in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Significance. The natural road ends at Alpe Campo, the highlight of the route. At the Rifugio/Ristorante Alpe Campo, as well as at the nearby Rifugio Saoseo (SAC hut) in Lungacqua, you can enjoy fine Poschiavo specialties.

After the refreshment, the path continues, partly through the forest, to Terzana, a picturesque hamlet with summer farms, on the opposite side of the valley. From here, there are many hairpin bends going up and down this part of the route, which leads via Festignani and Urezza to Cansumé. This section offers beautiful views of Valposchiavo, making physical effort quickly forgotten. The exciting descent from Cansumé to Poschiavo allows your legs to rest and enables you to enjoy the panorama towards Lake Poschiavo and beyond.
