Description

The starting point of this bike route is Chur. Right outside the city gates rise the 937 Graubünden mountains. And Switzerland's oldest city also has a thousand other beautiful things in store for you. Fancy mountain magic or vibrant city life? The Alpine City of Chur offers both. A scenically impressive circular route with gentle climbs and beautiful descents. Following the Plessur, you leave the pulsating city towards Meiersboden. A cozy, natural road leads up to Passugg, where the famous Passugger mineral water has been bubbling from the mythical Theophil spring for over 400 years. For a while, you now follow the road uphill before the route turns right again onto a forest path. This now leads upwards to the edge of the village of Churwalden. At the Chloster, turn left and reach Oberhus and later Spina by riding through the Chloster forest. Above the community of Malix, it steadily goes uphill until you reach the high plateau Brambrüesch, where the mountain station of the Chur cable cars is located. A handful of inns invite you to a refreshment with a wonderful view of a multitude of mountain peaks. The enjoyable descent via Känzeli, Rosenhügel, and Obertor finally ends again in the car-free old town of Chur (or those who like a proper trail descent can alternatively choose one of the official freeride pistes of the Alpenbikepark Chur). On one of the many terraces in the old town, you can let the day end comfortably. The route promises a magnificent alpine flora and fauna especially in early summer.
