Description
Those who venture to the very end of the wintry, secluded Safiental are quickly surrounded by a relaxing calm. The wide valley floor is framed by impressive mountains such as the Wisshorn, the Schwarz- and Gelbhorn. At times, it feels like being in an amphitheater. The winter hiking route starts in Thalkirch, Turra and meanders along the valley floor to z'Hinderst, as it is also called there. In front of you is an imposing rock face used by daring climbers for ice climbing.
Somewhat strange in this otherwise idyllic landscape is the distinctive compensation basin of the Zervreila power plants. On the way, you repeatedly enjoy a beautiful view of the typical scattered Walser settlements of the Safiental. The view extends to the Camaner huts, which are lined up like a string of pearls forming contrasting points in the snow.
In the exhibition stable Turra of the Safier Ställe association, you learn interesting facts about the settlement of the Safiental and the typical wooden buildings and stables of the valley. You can even try your hand at laying roof shingles yourself.
