215 Landwasser Viaduct Route

The short hike leads from Filisur station along the road for a bit to the second railway underpass. Then the path follows the railway line and through the forest to the viewing platform above the Landwasser Viaduct. From there you can enjoy a great view of the structure. In addition, information boards provide details about the construction of the viaduct, which is regarded as the emblem of the UNESCO World Heritage "Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscape". The construction of the three main pillars of the viaduct in 1901/1902 was an architectural masterpiece, as they were built without scaffolding using two cranes.

At every full hour, you have the opportunity to photograph the Rhaetian Railway as it crosses the 142 m long and 65 m high bridge and disappears or emerges from the tunnel in the vertical rock face. The return path to Filisur follows the same route.
