Description
From the station, the hiking trail crosses the station square to the Kleine Schliere. Along the left dam path, it continues to the Städerried nature reserve. From there, the lake shore path leads along Lake Alpnach up to Oberrüti. Then it is only a short distance up to the Zingel. This hosted a strong fortification during the Second World War.
On the Drachenflue, the path reaches its highest point at 859 m above sea level. In the rock below lies the Drachenloch, where Struthan von Winkelried is said to have defeated a feared dragon. Opposite lies the Rotzberg with the castle ruins from the 12th century. The Zingel
The panoramic view offers an unobstructed sight of Pilatus, Rigi, and Stanserhorn as well as over Lake Lucerne and at the foot of the Mueterschwandenberg the Drachenried area.
From the Zingel, the path goes back into the Hinterberg forest and then descends southwest to Eichi. Finally, the route crosses the airfield back to the station.
