Winter hiking trail Sunnbüel - Gemmi

From Kandersteg, the Sunnbüel cable car brings you up to the winter hiking paradise. You can reach the cable car from Kandersteg in a half-hour walk or comfortably by local bus. From Sunnbüel, you start the historic path to the Gemmipass, which was an important traffic connection between the cantons of Bern and Valais several hundred years ago. First, a short descent to the Spittelmatte plain, then the ascent to the Schwarenbach mountain hotel. The hike continues towards Daubensee and finally to the destination, the Gemmipass (2322 m above sea level). Here you will be rewarded with an impressive view of the Valais Alps.

Return trip: You can either hike back the same way or take the Gemmi train down to Leukerbad, then return by bus and train to Kandersteg. The corresponding round-trip ticket is available at the train station.
