Description

From the Simmenfälle restaurant, you follow an alpine road to the Siebenbrunnen, the source of the Simme. At the foot of the mighty limestone wall, the Simme emerges foaming white. It is worth taking a short break here, because now it gets steep. On a partly exposed mountain path, accompanied by flowing water, it goes steeply uphill to the Fluhsee, which lies at 2,045 m above sea level. The lake lies amidst towering rock walls to the south and has an open view to the north towards Lenk. The path remains steep and becomes increasingly rocky. The higher you climb, the starker the alpine rock desert becomes. Before crossing the glacier stream, the path deviates from the official trail network and from here is only marked by stone piles. Soon the huge Plaine Morte glacier is reached. The last approximately 500 meters in altitude are still steep, but the view of the Bernese and Valais peaks becomes more impressive with every meter climbed. On a clear day, from the Wildstrubel you can see the peaks of Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, and many other Alpine summits.

After a well-deserved break, return via the same path to the valley.
