Description

This short hike is possible all year round but is best done in spring. The mild location on the southwestern slope of Belpberg allows the flowers in and around Gelterfingen to often sprout earlier than elsewhere. You cross the Gürbetal to the hamlet of Heitern. Here, a shortcut through the Chramburg forest towards Chramburg is possible. However, if you do not shy away from the steep climb to Eggenhorn, you climb the steep flank of Belpberg. Whichever variant you choose, you are rewarded with the view of the pretty waterfall just above Heitern. Eggenhorn is a somewhat remote hamlet in a gentle hollow. The landscape from Eggenhorn towards Schlatt is a gem. Many hedges have been preserved here. Fruit trees, nut trees, and stately oaks line the path. At a large oak, the border between the municipalities of Gerzensee and Gelterfingen is marked with a granite boundary stone.  Shortly after the Schlatt farm, the forest path descends through the Bärghölzli. After the ditch, you can take a right turn through the forest for a detour to the Chramburg ruins. Those who continue straight will soon encounter the junction towards Gelterfingen and Kaufdorf. A steep path with steps leads down over the hamlet Chramburg to Gelterfingen. Here, a stop is possible at the Gasthof Linde. The further path then leads out into the plain of the former Chabisland, the Gürbetal. At the canalized Müsche stream, you branch off towards Toffen. For the last approximately 30 minutes, the hike follows along the water. You reach the confluence of Müsche and Gürbe and follow the river to Toffen. Those who want to extend the river hike a bit can stay on the right bank at the first bridge and reach the train station on the other bank via the second bridge.
