Description
You start at the Industrie bus stop in Etziken. In the Erdbeeri-Ischlag east of Subingen lies the cemetery of a Celtic village from the 7th century BC. The cemetery includes twenty burial mounds in which nearly exclusively women were buried. At the eastern forest exit, you reach the small Inkwilersee. Shortly before silting up, it was extensively restored and renatured. The pile dwelling finds at Inkwilersee and Burgäschisee belong to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since the finds are in the water, you must make do with information boards. Via Bolken and Aeschi, you reach Burgäschisee, with 700 meters in length and 500 meters in width, the largest lake in the canton of Solothurn. The lake invites you to swim. At the Seeblick restaurant, you can linger and enjoy. On the way back towards Etziken, you cross the invisible railway line Bern-Olten-Zurich. Shortly before the destination, you encounter the forty-meter-high water tower of Etziken. The viewing terrace offers a magnificent panoramic view of the whole region. Through the village, you return to the starting point.
