Description
This circular hike combines the chic flair of Gstaad with alpine nature and cultural highlights. It starts at the historic MOB railway bridge in the middle of the Gstaad promenade and leads directly to the legendary Gstaad Palace Hotel, the landmark of Gstaad.
From there, it passes through the exclusive chalet district Oberbort, where architecture and alpine elegance merge. The path winds further to the Grand Chalet restaurant, which offers one of the best views of the village of Gstaad and the mountain world – a perfect place for a short break.
After the descent to the large railway viaduct from 1905, the view opens up to the charming village center. The route now leads directly into the world-famous Gstaad promenade, where luxury boutiques meet local family businesses. Past the ice rink area, the venue of international beach volleyball and tennis tournaments, it continues to the Coop supermarket, where a small street leads into the green.
At the Saane River, you cross to the opposite side and walk a stretch along Saani's sound experience – an interactive theme trail with a welcoming fire pit for picnics. After the Mettlenwäldchen, the view opens up to the Eggli gondola and the Gstaad sports center.
A short stretch along the main road takes you past the dairy to the upper promenade. Through the promenade, it goes back to the railway bridge, under which you reach Kapälliplatz. Here, at the fountain of Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins), the route closes.
