Description
The ViaRhenana opens up the historic waterway on the Untersee and Hochrhein. It thrives on the specific diversity of the river landscape, which is not just a natural area but largely bears the character of an old cultural landscape.
The ViaRhenana leads along rapids, through forests and floodplains, connecting cultural centers of European significance such as the cities of Konstanz, Schaffhausen, and Basel, various spa towns, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of the island of Reichenau. The Rhine Falls, the most frequently visited excursion destination in Switzerland, is also located on the ViaRhenana.
On and beside the water, there is a variety of possibilities to travel on foot, by bike, or on ships and boats. Combining these is one of the special attractions of the ViaRhenana. Especially attractive are the boat trips between Konstanz and Schaffhausen or between Rheinfelden and Basel, which are especially suitable for return journeys after hiking.
