Description
Stage 1: You start in Tiefencastel and hike from there along the culture and long-distance hiking trail Via Sett to Mon. Worth seeing is the Romanesque church of St. Cosmas and Damian just before Mon as well as the high Baroque church of St. Francis in Mon itself.
Stage 2: The highlight of this stage, which leads from Mon to the alpine farms of Munter and Ratitsch and then down via Cre digl Lai, is clearly Ziteil – the highest pilgrimage church in Europe at 2,433 m above sea level. The apparition of the Virgin Mary in summer 1580 on Alp Ziteil is documented by historical evidence. Shortly afterwards, a chapel was built.
Today, the pilgrimage church and the pilgrim house are open on summer weekends.
Stage 3: From Salouf, you hike via the alpine flora trail to Somtgant. Around 100 different alpine flowers, medicinal plants, and alpine herbs grow there, all of which are labeled. From Somtgant, the panorama trail continues over Naladas to Radons.
Stage 4: On this hike away from hustle and bustle, you march from Radons over Fuorcla Curtegns into Val Faller – an oasis of peace with three small former Walser settlements.
Stage 5: From the starting point Tga, the hike leads through Val Bercla over Stallerberg to Bivio. You walk past the beautiful mountain lakes – an ideal place for a break.
Stage 6: Along the exploration route via Fuorcla digl Leget and Val d’Agnel to the end of the valley at Julier Hospice. During this mountain hike, you experience earth history up close. Cart ruts in the rock, souvenirs from the sea, and the impressive Himmelstor.
