Description

The route from Ribia to the Capanna Alzasca takes three and a half hours plus the necessary breaks to catch your breath and take in the landscape. Two hours are spent on terrain with no clear trail or just a faint trace of a path. From the Capanna Ribia, the trail winds its way through alpine terrain up to the Cima di Catögn and continues along the ridge to the Bocchetta of the same name. A short detour to the other side of the valley and already to the next pass, the Bocchetta Cansgéi. From there you could make a beeline down to the lodge but the official path takes a slightly longer route, and with good reason as it takes you to visit one of the most famous alpine lakes in the Ticino, namely Lake Alzasca. A jewel surrounded by majestic mountains and alpine flora. Wonderful place to enjoy the peace and nature that reigns here thanks to its remoteness. One last short descent and we reach the Capanna Alzasca.
