Via Alta Vallemaggia - 6th stage: Capanna Barone-Fusio

Above us rises Pizzo Campo Tencia, the alpinistic and geographical center of Ticino. The path is still long, so we keep our momentum and ascend among the larches to Piatto. The place name fits perfectly to this only high plateau along the Via Alta, with its little valleys, tiny lakes, streams, and green knolls. After the obligatory break, a little further up awaits Passo Fornale, today’s last obstacle – although marked white-red, the path descends very steeply on the northern side. At Lago di Mognola a last breather, and then down to Fusio, where after many exciting adventures a charming village welcomes us.
