Description

The forest reserve covers an area of 15 square kilometers and ranges from 450 m above sea level up to the forest limit at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level.

To visit the Cama forest reserve, start from Ogreda. After a challenging climb, you reach a beautiful bucolic valley where the well-known Lagh de Cama is located at 1200 meters. A true emerald jewel nestled among the majestic Swiss mountains. Directly at the lake is Alp de Lagh, where you can encounter various animals including cows, goats, sheep, woolly pigs, and chickens. From the Righetti-Fibbioli hut, located beyond the river, the trail climbs ever higher, overlooking the lake towards Alp de Vazzola. From Segnale Pass, a breathtaking panorama opens showing a natural amphitheater formed by Pizzo Paglia and Sass Mogn, crowning the upper part of Val Leggia. You cross the beautiful sunlit valley to reach Torrion Pass at 2003 meters, just above Alpe de Lugazzone, which provides access to Val Grono. From here, continue descending along the lower wooded part of the valley, where you will find several huts, all well preserved. Continuing from Ruscada, the path goes straight to Moncuch, situated at 1000 meters. After long traverses and a few hairpin bends, you reach the evocative Carmel Chapel, located at 685 meters altitude, which used to serve as a refuge for passers-by. From this point, the trail winds with wide hairpin bends leading to the village of Grono.
