Urwaldweg Bödmeren

Already at the starting point Eigeliswald at the Pragelpassstrasse the slender, deeply polluted spruces and the soil interspersed with carts (limestone rocks) characterise the picture. The mosaic of forest and pasture accompanies us all the way. Man has created alpine pastures by clearing where the soil was suitable. The primeval forest reserve (www.boedmeren.ch) begins in the Stägen to the east. We see a spruce forest structured by small tree collectives and later a light, shrubby birch forest with individual spruces and pines. The flora reacts very finely to soil conditions and small topography, which manifests itself in a great variety. The Alpine way marks the end of the primeval forest.
