Description
Take the PostBus from Sta. Maria Posta to the Umbrail Pass (2500 metres above sea level), where this spectacular hike starts. After an ascent of around 1:15 hours, you reach Piz Umbrail - the highest point of the hike (3033 metres above sea level). The subsequent descent takes 1:30 hours to Lai da Rims - the famous emerald-blue lake on the plateau. After a short stretch along the lake, the hike takes 1:15 hours up to the saddle of Piz Praveder (an extra 45 minutes must be factored in for a detour back to Piz Praveder). This is followed by the descent into Val Döss Radond, from where you reach the Val Mora forest road in 0:45. Follow the Val Mora along the forest road to Val Vau and after 01:30 you will reach the Val Vau PostBus stop (not served every day). After another 01:15 you reach the village of Sta.Maria.
