Description
The trail starts at the Staffelegg passhöhe. Located in typical Kettenjura landscape, it is surrounded by several lookout mountains such as the Wasserflue (843 m above sea level) or the eponymous Gisliflue (772 m above sea level). From the summit, there is an almost 360-degree panorama of the Mittelland, the Jura, the Alps, and the Black Forest. Along the forest edge, the circular trail first leads on the north side of the Homberg to the gate. The small forest clearing offers a fantastic view of the Alps on clear days.
The track then winds through the beech mixed forest below the Gisliflue ridge until it reaches Gislimatt. Shortly after the easternmost turning point of the trail, the Naturfreundehaus (served on Sundays) invites you to take a break with a view over the Schenkenberg valley and the Schenkenberg ruin. Some of the stones from the ruin were used to build the houses in the hamlet of Rischeln, which is passed last on the return route to Staffelegg.
