Thusis - Traversinersteg - Viamala Gorge - Zillis

The hike starts at Thusis railroad station. First you pass Ehrenfels Castle and Hohen Rätien Castle. From here, the path goes up and down again and again and leads along the Viamala Gorge. In places, the path is a little narrow and steep due to rockfalls. You need to be free from giddiness here. After around 2 hours, you reach the Traversinersteg, a mixture of steps and suspension bridge. A good place for a short rest. The route then continues to the Viamala Gorge visitor center. If you want to visit the gorge, you can do so here for CHF 5.00 or simply treat yourself to a coffee or something to nibble at the visitor center. From here, the route continues along the Hinterrhein. A few steeper climbs await and after another hour you reach the pretty village of Zillis. From the village center, take the bus back to Thusis train station.
