Description
The Thurgau Thurweg is a gift to the people of Thurgau. It is meant to bring the population closer to the river that gave the canton its name. Water as a companion on hikes has always fascinated people. Therefore, the trail runs as close to the river as possible and crosses it over most bridges. The constant change of the route between both banks makes the hike varied and shows the different facets of the river.
From Bischofszell you reach the crooked bridge dating back to 1487, where the Thur is crossed for the first time. The trail continues through the Thurfeld and finally along the river to Kradolf-Schönenberg. There the Thur is crossed once again. Through a wooded area, the trail gently descends to reach the town of Weinfelden.
